How it is made
Sutracraft works in two Rajasthani traditions. Sanganer is direct block printing on a pale ground, with fine florals and delicate repeats. Bagru is daboo, an older mud-resist technique that yields deep indigos and earthy tones. Both are done entirely by hand: the block is carved by hand, the cloth is stretched by hand, and every impression is pressed one at a time. Slight variation between repeats is the signature of the hand, not a flaw.
The people behind the cloth
Every piece is made by named karigars at our Sanganer workshop, including Ramesh Kumar, Sunita Devi, Chaman Rajput, and Subhodh. We name the makers because the work is theirs.
